The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has donated a brand-new Toyota Camry to Mrs Rachael Folake Alamu, Principal of Community High School, Esiele, in Oriire Local Government Area.
The presentation was made on Monday, July 13, 2026, during Senator Alli’s visit to victims of the mass abduction who are receiving medical care and rehabilitation at the Military Hospital in Ibadan.
Mrs Alamu was among the teachers and pupils abducted on May 15, 2026, when gunmen stormed three schools in the Ahoro-Esiele community — Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Community Grammar School, and L.A. Primary School.
During her captivity, she became a symbol of resilience. Videos released by the kidnappers showed her appealing to authorities and the public for help while remaining steadfast about the safety of the abducted children.
Presenting the vehicle, Senator Alli described the gesture as a token of appreciation for her strength and leadership. “Her composure and dedication in the face of adversity deserve recognition and support,” he said, adding that the donation was intended to ease her recovery and to encourage other victims of insecurity not to lose hope.
The candidate also sympathized with the rescued pupils, teachers and their families, assuring them of his continued support as they recover from the physical and psychological effects of their captivity.
He commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for securing the release of the victims, describing the operation as proof of what can be achieved through coordinated security efforts. Senator Alli also paid tribute to security personnel who lost their lives during the rescue mission, calling them national heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the country.
Mrs Alamu expressed appreciation for the donation, describing it as a source of encouragement after her traumatic experience. She pledged to remain committed to her duties as an educator despite the challenges she had endured.
The abduction drew widespread concern across Nigeria, with sustained calls from parents, civil society groups and other stakeholders for the victims’ safe return. Following weeks of coordinated operations, the victims regained their freedom on Friday, July 10, 2026, and are currently undergoing rehabilitation.
Shortly after the rescue, a video circulating online captured the visibly emotional principal asking security operatives about her husband and her vehicle, before officers reassured her that her family was safe.
The Federal Government confirmed that the victims were rescued through a coordinated security operation without paying ransom or granting concessions to the kidnappers.
