A 16-year-old boy, initially identified as Alex Ansol from Spain, has been reunited with his family in Kano, Nigeria, after being found wandering in Dadin Kowa village, Doguwa Local Government Area. The boy, later revealed to be Yusuf Sabiu, had arrived in Nigeria with four relatives on March 30, 2026, via Abuja International Airport, intending to visit his father, Ansol Fan, but lost contact with them along the Jos-Saminaka road.

The Kano State Police Command had launched a search for the boy’s relatives, describing him as thin, dark-complexioned, and able to speak English, with no tribal marks, and providing an address in Spain. “The Police are making efforts to locate his relatives and reunite them with Alex,” said CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, Police Public Relations Officer.

Further investigation revealed that Yusuf Sabiu had been separated from his parents, Saminu Yusuf and Habiba Adam, for over 13 years. His parents were traced and identified, and he was formally handed over to them at the Doguwa Police Division, Kano.

“The command appreciates the media and social media users who promptly shared the initial report. Your swift circulation of the information played a key role in tracing the family and achieving this positive outcome,” Kiyawa stated.
